SPEO Recognizes 2023 Wallenberg Spirit Award Recipient, Holly Douglas, and Founding Member, Ray Meyer

Holly Douglas is the recipient of this year’s Wallenberg Spirit Award. Holly accepted the award at the conclusion of SPEO’s 2023 Annual Opportunities Forum on February 7, 2023. The award is presented annually to a member-selected recipient who epitomizes the spirit of Raoul Wallenberg: “for making the lives of others better; for lifting up others because it is the right thing to do, not because the world is watching; for simply helping others because they are human beings, not because they are of a certain race.”

Presenting the Wallenberg award was SPEO founding member, Ray Meyer, who was also recognized at the event. Ray recently retired from ALCOSAN and stepped back from active SPEO participation after nearly three decades. Ray’s tireless commitment and service to ALCOSAN, SPEO, and the region was paid tribute to by his former ALCOSAN colleague, David Borneman and Arletta Scott Williams, Executive Director of ALCOSAN. Fittingly, Ray was the first recipient of SPEO’s Wallenberg Spirit Award in 2004.

Congratulations Holly and Ray and thanks for all you have done for SPEO!
