Turner Construction in Partnership with UPMC Supplier Diversity Offers Construction Management Training Course – Applications Due 8/22/19

Turner Construction, in partnership with UPMC Supplier Diversity, has opened registration for their 2019 Turner School of Construction Management training course. This 12-week course is offered free of charge to minority, women-owned, disabled, LGBTQ, veteran/disabled veteran and disadvantaged new/start-up and growing engineering and construction related businesses in the Pittsburgh metro area/ Southwestern Pennsylvania.

This year’s program will begin on August 27, 2019 with classes being held on the second and fourth Tuesday’s through November 5, 2019 from 5:30 to 9:00pm at UPMC- Steel Tower office at 600 Grant Street. Dinner will be provided. Courses will be led by various business professionals including Turner staff members, UPMC Engineering and Construction staff, construction law session being staffed by Meyer, Unkovic, and Scott, and Safety training being led by Cosmos Technologies.

Topics include: Green Building, Project Delivery Systems, How to Run Your Business, How to Get Paid, Estimating/Procurement, BIM 101, Scheduling, Accounting Basics, Field Operations/Safety, and Sales and Marketing.

Turner’s Pittsburgh office has hosted this course previously and looks forward to a successful session with UPMC Supplier Diversity. The Turner School of Construction Management is the oldest community outreach program in Turner’s history. It was initiated in 1969, one year after their Affirmative Action Department was created. It soon became an opportunity to develop strategic business relationships with minority and women-owned firms.
